I was cleaning out ralphs stash and i found this rock in a box.. it said camphelite from bisbee ?...... anyone have a clue what this is?? Its very pretty with the copper specks in it. ty mary ann

Really interesting specimen but I suspect that's one of those madeup trade names. I 'll admit my library's not the be all, end all of reference sources but I checked lists of Bisbee minerals online and in all my books and cannot find that name mentioned. You know how it is. Someone finds a neat new cuttable rock that's a combination of named minerals and gives it a fancy name or names it after the finder etc......Mel

yes i know............ we've had it for 4 yrs. Its a hard material, i think we can cab some of it.

There is a stone that comes out of Bisbee called campbellite. It was named after the campbell mine. Every piece that I have seen has native copper in it . The matrix seems to vary but usually associted with more red than your piece. I am pretty sure it is just a trade name like Mel said. Pretty though.
