I found this rock on the beach and when I saw the banding in the white veins all I could think of was the banding found in agate. Please tell me its true. lol A few shots: a crystal vug in the middle of the banding This is a fist sized polish rock that I found in a friends yard. A previous owner must have been a rock polisher. She says she finds them all the time. cool periwinkle with dried up seaweed on it. The up-close pic looks like segmented insect legs. Any thoughts would be appreciated and thanks for looking.

Could likely be quartz veins that filled fractures in the rock.

Very cool stuff and a fine example of a calcareous or coralline algae. Lots of calcareous and stony algae from the fossil record and lots still occur today and are neat plants of rocks and reefs....Mel
