Jason, John and I went out playing around out in the desert yesterday. We keep saying we are going to go check out this one canyon, but we never seem to have enough time, so yesterday we went and hiked up the canyon. Well of course I left my camera sitting on my desk, so I asked John to email me some pictures of one of our finds. Thanks John! Check out this jasper vein I found a ways up the canyon! Here is Jason standing in front of it A closeup shot The top layer has lots of freeze/thaw expansion cracks in it, but it looks like the second layer may be pretty solid. Sure gonna take some work to get it freed up though! Just had to share this with all you guys!! Tony

Umm, Tony, I don't think that rock will fit in the back of your truck! That vein looks awesome and I sure hope it turns out to be some great material to slice up! I am looking forward to seeing it with closeups! Fran

If there's even a REMOTE chance that a rock will fit in his truck, Tony will attempt it LOL.

This vein is far enough away from the road it has to go out a back pack load at a time. As far as I have to carry it, it will have to get much better before I will start packing it out that far. Just kind of a neat find out in the middle of the desert. Hopefully there will be many more neat finds!

Wow I'm used to finding fist sized chunks. I wouldn't know where to start on something like that.
