WOW...
I'm humbled by the efforts of such an obsessed rockman. I like the analytical approach this guy took. Clearly an engineer and not an artist.
This may be my next project. It'll be a two'fer... One, I'll have a large scale grinder. Two, I have a neighbor who has pissed me off, and I'll put it right next to his house and run it without the splash guards for days and weeks on end...
Yea...That's the ticket...

That is some tumbler, isn't it! If I had a place for one that big, I might try to build one. Ya' know what they say "build it, they will come". In this case, it's "build it, the rocks with tumble."

LOL! That's the great thing about having an RV. If I don't like my neighbors, I can just hitch up and move! Of course, the disadvantage is that I can't build a 50# truck tire rock tumbler!

That is a big tumbler, cool. It looks like a good design too. Might be a little messy cleaning up the rocks on such a big scale, but you sure could go through the rocks huh? Later, Don

Did any of you guys catch my idea last week...I think I posted it ?? senile now I was watching some neighborhood kids playing with a motoirized treadmill , I was thinking..put a board on both sides of the tread and think of how many barrels you could put on that thing...vary the speed..pluck a barrel off or add as many as you like untill you ran out of tread !!! I saw that and remembered my sister has a treadmill that just sits in a corner. I think about 3 to 4 5 gal buckets would fit on it. Wonder how long it would take to wear the tread out.?
I can just hear it now "So, you're going to start getting some exercise on the treadmill? "
"Well, no, I am going to use it as a rock tumbler"

Now that's a serious tumbler! If you haven't read thru his whole article, take the time and read it. He sounds like an aerospace engineer I used to work with. I think I'll stick with ABS pipe
later, Ed

Although I would like a tumbler that would tumble alot of rocks at once, I think this one may be just a bit much!
My friend and I are talking about trying the treadmill thing if we can find a cheap one. She's already got it all figured out. I just wonder how long the motor would hold up going 24/7.
