Ever heard of that one? Well, haven't had much time the past couple days to wire wrap really. I started this thing back last spring, before the rock hobby took over, and it got too hot to work on it. I decided a couple days ago that it needed to be finished and put where it belongs!! This is a Queen size bed, and the bedspread drapes to the floor on both sides and at the foot. for those of you who have crocheted, this is crocheted with double strands of worsted weight yarn......it nearly took everything I had just to flip it around and start another row!! Has over 60 skeins of yarn it it, and countless number of hours trying to finish it. It weighs an absolute ton....LET HIM TRY TO STEAL MY COVERS NOW!!!!! lol I hardly ever make anything and keep it for myself, I usually wind up selling it or giving it away..this is something I have always wanted to accomplish just for me. Any ways, thought you'd like to see it..... No it's not crocheted crooked at the end of the bed....I just didn't realize I didn't have it straight!! Lol Next we have to re-texture and paint these stupid walls! Uggh!

Marie, that's a beautiful spread. I bet it does weigh a ton! That's a LOT of yarn. Do you have help making the bed, or will you have to manhandle it by yourself every time? LOL - a real muscle-builder!
Tom
PS - when y'all get done with the walls, feel free to come to my house and get started on my walls! ;D ;D ;D

Lol Tom!! He started the walls a couple months ago...but hasn't finished them yet. This is a trailer house, and you know those little seem strips that are on every single sheetrock joint there is in a trailer? He is mudding them, and making the walls look like a regular house. I cannot wait to have them all finished. He did the kitchen, living room, hallway, and both bathrooms, now we have 3 bedrooms left to go. He says he has all winter to do it though....but you know me and my patience!! I did however finish this spread this morning under some really bad conditions. I am a coffee hound, I drink it all day, every day. This morning my coffee pot decides it's gonna die, no warning, nothing,! Not even 1 cup before it croaked!! Are ya kiddin me??!!!!!!!! But, my determination outweighed my crabbiness, and my impatience, and I forced myself to finish this thing before I would go buy a new coffee pot! Each color green section takes 5 hours to do, I finished this at about noon today, and I crocheted on it all day yesterday and the day b-4, trying to get it done. As far as help making the bed goes? ? LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!! prolly NOT!!!!!

HA! It's funny, I guess, what learning to live alone after being married 27 years does to a guy. I have always been a fairly organized, everything-in-its-place kind of person, so I had to learn how to make the bed, when and how to do laundry, how to cook, how to clean the house, etc. Now all my relatives think I'm weird because I'm such a good housekeeper! Little do they know ..... with just me, no pets, no roommates, the house hardly ever needs cleaning! It's the yard that kills my back, so it goes wanting sometimes. ;D

Beautiful work! I did some crocheting when I was younger (honest) lol... I knew how to do the block stitch and the shell stitch. Don't laugh, there's not much that I haven't tried ;D Anyhow, congrats on finishing it, looks like a ton of work but it turned out perfect

Thanx Randy! I am not shocked at all. I actually have a friend who sews ALL, and I do mean ALL of his wifes clothing! He is and awesome seamster, so being male does not exclude you from trying out something like crochet! I actually think it's kind of a cool thing, guys trying to do what has always been considered "womens" work, so to speak. Crochet is a bit harder than it looks, so I am impressed that you tried it!! way cool!!!!

That is one big spread. Now you just need a dog to chew a hole in the center of it.

Very nice job. I have done crochet, knitting and latch hook rugs. Didn't say I liked it. Oh yea! and plastic canvas. Never could get the hang of a sewing machine. Always screwed up the bobbin. You should be proud of yourself. Ken

Rockmanken - I can't run a sewing machine much either. I get frustrated with it real fast! Once...the sewing machine went in the floor! If all I have to do is a straight stitch, I'm good to go! I've done a little latch hook, and a tad bit of canvass stuff, but haven't ever learned to knit....not sure why, it just never appealed to me I guess. Stonesthatrock - I have never done a bedspread with the thread, but I have done a lot of tablecloths! I know what you mean.....takes forever! I usually prefer to work with the thread over yarn, but this I wanted to be heavier and thicker....and boy is it!!! I have never given up on crochet though, I always pick it back up. This thing is just so warm you guys. Used it the past few nights, and actually kicked it off cuz it got too warm....but it's gonna get colder, so........ Amber, yep my favorite colors!! Now I just have to find some cheap curtains that will compliment it. And when I say cheap....I mean dirt cheap!! LOL I had actually thought about crocheting them too....but haven't convinced myself that I want to yet!

Marie, I've done a lot of crocheting & knitting in the past, but not for a long time. That is a beautiful job. Makes me think I should get back at it but, then how would I ever get my rocks done? I'm so impressed - again. Jo

Beautiful workwomanship. We havn't seen one that large in a long time. Most ripple afagans like that are throws only. A real heirloom. Debby and Tom

Great job Marie! I love it, it looks sooo cozy. My mom tried teaching me to crochet, but I never could figure it out. I'm thinking because I'm left handed and she was right handed. But she did teach me to sew, and I love doing that!
