I have been thinking about different bowl that I could make for a DIY vibe tumbler. The most obvious is a 2.5 gallon bucket, but that is very loud as I found out. Anybody have any other ideas?

Yeah, I saw the toilet plungers and they are perfect except they are a bit to small for me. The aluminum might work but I think it would be loud. Has anyone actually tried it? I wonder if there is any kind of rubber that could be repeatedly painted inside the bunt pan and then the bunt pan peeled off? What kind of plastic are normal bowls made from?

Truck bed spray on liner. ;D
Best bet would be to find a shop that does it and have them do a couple when they're doing a truck.

I will have to try that. Dont they make that stuff in a spray can, too?

A few years ago I made a vib simular to the lot-o tumbler. I used a toilet plunger for the barrel and it worked very well. Unfortunately the rest of the machine flew to pieces but the bowl lasted just fine. One important thing to consider is that the bowl needs to be sealed tight. A vib with an open top will lose it's water quickly and will be very hard to work with.
The action of the vib will determine the shape of the bowl. A barrel from a Lortone rotory tumbler can be used in a vibe that has an action like the Lot-o. The rock will vibrate and rotate inside the barrel but the barrel will not be rotating.

Darn, and I thought the plunger idea was original.
