I know wew dont want to start a advertising board here, but!
What about a list of vendors that we have dealt with as members who we can trust or we have had good experience with ? I know a lot of us use The Rock Shed , I think they are the best..but what about things they dont carry like Titanium Oxide ?? I want to order some to try and I cannot seem to find a supply that will let me order it online .

I have to agree with you sandsman. I have ordered from Frank's mine tours twice now. Both times I have received my order quickly. Communication with Frank has been very friendly. The prices seem to be pretty reasonable and the rough is nice. And if you order 4 pounds of rough from them, you get 1 pound of rough of your choice free. I will definitely be purchasing more rough from him!

The first place that I ordered grit and polish from was www.mamasminerals.com I was very pleased the the price for the four step package they had. It was 14.95 plus shipping for a container of each step. I got it in about 5 or 6 days after ordering, and in the package I got a coupon for a percent off my next order. Tami

I've used two vendors mostly: Kingsley North, www.kingsleynorth.com/ is one of the "industry standards" and I've had good luck buying grit and rough from them. They have about every lapidary tool and supply under the sun, and a very good selection of rough. When I buy grit, it comes double bagged and sealed in heavy-duty bagging, and I did not see any grit on the outside of the bags that would irritate me from a contamination point of view. The other is a place called Facets www.4facets.com/ on the Oregon Coast. Great place to buy agates. Excellent customer service. They once overcharged me for shipping, and I mentioned just sending me the overcharge in rough, and a week later I got a nice bag of medium beach tumbled agate and jasper. I plan to drive down and meet these folks in person soon.

I just looked at the minersmall one and was going to order cerium oxide, but the shipping on it was more then the actual cost of the oxide itself!, the shipping was $9.90, for ONE pound, buyers beware

I wish the place I go for most of my metalsmithing and other art supplies had a website, because they have a huge section that has new and used lapidary equipment as well as rocks galore, including huge chunks of rock with natural amethyst and bins of glass, and a few enormous pieces of glass.
My sister and I went there and literally picked through the rocks to get a large sampling of them for one of our nephews.
Next time I got there I will suggest they get a website. I would probably buy more from them if they weren't so far away I get to Wichita, KS about once every month or every other month.
If they ever do get a website I will get it to you all.

I have family near and in Wichita and I usually go there at least once a year for a horse show, hopefully I can go this year and take a little down time to go rock shopping, although 'down time' and 'horse show' don't usually go together

You do know that Ebersole's is no longer located just off of the Highway? If you don't know where the new location is let me know and I can get the information from my sister that lives in a suburb of Wichita.
