Not knowing anything about it's hardness etc, I'd guess columnar aragonite. We had similar formations on the California desert that sometimes were agatized into sagenite....Mel

Very cool! It looks like a miniature model of the hexagonal basalt in the Columbia Gorge. Very cool little piece.

I agree with basalt. It looks like a minitare version of basalt column cliffs along the Bay. Are the colums hexagonal, or triangular (hexagon split in two)?
