Dummy me. If I found that while digging in the dirt, I'd just throw it in the tumbler. Great find.

That material actually looks like Deschutes Jasper and I'm almost certain it is. For some reason it has that "look" to it. If it tends to be more opalized than a good solid jasper - it probably is Deschutes.
I live about 10 minutes from this old bed and have seen alot of Biggs. I know all the miners well. I actually sold all the old biggs I had this afternoon. I'm a Thunderegg guy not a cabber LOL -
Material is no longer available other than purchase from Judy as her father was the miner of all Deschutes. Nice rock and great score!

Nice find. I was thinking it looked more like Deschutes too before I saw the rockhound97058 post. I wonder what happened to all the Deschutes that Hoot found? Garry

nice piece but looks more like a spall to me The Directory Oregon state parks gave the hand axe to me for a gift. i had just mved next door and he was airless spraying his house, and my rock pile on the other side of the arborvitaes. in response Ray said will then you do a better job? I spent three hours shooting the ranch house, From the ground i`m 5'18" short reach, i had the family running in circle masking and moving drops. And the payment was a Damn ROCK, As for the Material i was guessing Biggs, As for the Concordeol ( Spelling ) fractures and the fine chips on the cutting edge. Professor Bill Orr And Alison S. Both Oregon state geologist & paleontologist. Both agree and they dated it to the site found. Though thanks

Interesting piece regardless of type of Jasper! Is this Jack that used to go by the name lapidaryrough? Just wondering as I notice your pictures are all linked to lapidaryrough's photo gallery and both names are from Salem, Oregon. Or does Jack have a son that is a member as well? Regardless, thank you for posting this. I really like looking at photos of tools such as this because I know that my untrained eye would completely miss this item if I were to dig it out of the ground or find it laying somewhere. Shan
