Hello, Here are 4 more specimen photos from our recent trip with Chasfire and Woodyrock. It was fun to get out and find something besides petrified wood and agate (although I have nothing against agate and pet wood!). Some of the clusters are clear, some have a hint of amethyst, and some are citrine as you can see. John found and cleaned these, but he doesn't know how to post photos yet, so here they are: I've never seen crystal clusters like these before. Many of the clusters seem to be radiating outwards in all directions. I call them "Starburst crystals" because some of them remind me of a super nova. I'm not really a crystal collector, but I think these would be classified as "thumbnail"specimens. Any of you crystal collectors out there, please correct me if I'm wrong- I'm not sure at what size the crystals go from "micro-minerals" to thumbnail specimens to just ordinary (larger) size crystals. Anyway, it was fun collecting these and nobody mistook one of us for an elk. (Yes, the hills were crawling with game hunters.) Thanks for looking. Garry

Really cool. I'm not into crystals either, but I can still aprreciate them.

Great finds!
Not sure of what size a micromount is. I think every mineral dealer has a different definition of what a 'thumbnail' is. To me a thumbnail will fit in a Perky Box (1.25" square). 'Miniature' = 1.25" to 2.5" in any one direction. Cabinet = larger than 2.5" in any one direction.
What size are the crystals in the pics?
Later, jeri

Jeri,
The specimens shown here would fall into the "miniature" (1.25" to 2.5") category. However, we did get quite a few specimens that would fall into the thumbnail category too. The specimen Chasfire posted earlier would be a "cabinet" specimen based on your definition. Thanks for the clarification!

You're welcome... As I said, others have different definitions... I mostly collect miniatures and cabinet sized... I want to see the specimen without squinting! LOL... I really like the second one. Later, jeri
