Alrighty then!! I have only a tad bit of this copper wire left, and I think maybe I'll move on to better wire. I have enough to do 3 or 4 more wraps, then it's gone. I probably won't post any after this for awhile, as I need to save enough to buy the wire.....hmmm....less I win the lottery! LOL Yeah...fat chance right? LOL Anyways, here's a few I have done over the past couple weeks. I had another project I had to get finished, so had to put the wire away quite a bit till I got that done. Please forgive....some of this is just playing around trying to figure something out!!! LOL Aunuts Cabs Now the tumbled stones Laker Maryellen Laker Laker I dunno...but it's purty! Laker Laker Laker Cool lookin...could NOT get all the bugs outta this one!! UGGGH Sorry for the big pics. Suppers in the oven, and I was too lazy to down size them. How'd I do? Thanks for lookin'!! Yep, Marie, you are definitely ready for some "good" wire! I really enjoyed seeing the ones where you mixed different kinds of wire - very innovative and unique! I think they are ALL lovely!

Marie,
Your originality is unmatched! Really unique wraps there. I especially like the one with twisted black wire.

I think the only one I don't like is 4th from the top. Think my favorite is second from the top. Great craftsmanship on all of them.

You've been deserving of 'real' wire - your craftsmanship is wonderful. But don't neglect the copper, sometimes that will go best with a given stone - even more so than silver/gold.

Toad - I didn't "feel" deserving until I could get a lot of that experimenting outta my system. Now that I have a certain way I like to wrap, and I know kinda what I am doing, I feel it would be ok to buy better wire. Thank you! Amber - that's what happens when ya have nothin better to do but practice!!! LOL I swear I have spent all day long sitting and playing with my wire trying to figure out how to do things to make them look good. Now I have another idea in my head, and we are playing with it...soon as I get one finished I'll show it off. Something completely different. Marie

Yes indeed...I think it's time for some silver or gold. Toad was right...keep your copper too. I have all three and artistic wire also. Anywho...way to go on those stones!

Don't have enough wire? Try groove wraps, it's way more economical I agree, if I had your wrapping skills I 'd like to upgrade to a better wire, without being afraid I'd ruin the wire. Adrian

That is some incredible work. On the topic of copper wire, all the round wire we use is recycled (actually re-purposed) electrical wire. If you can get acquainted with your local scrap guy and offer him a little more than the recycle place pays, you can have copper wire at a fraction of the price that you're paying now.

That's a lot of wrapping! I like them all. I think I like the ones best where you mix different colors of wire. You are very artistic. Great job! It will be fun to see your new idea wrap that you mentioned is rolling around in your head.

Adrian - I have been wanting to try the groove wraps, I really like the way they frame a stone, sort of like a bezel, and I do like bezels. I am just unsure how deep to cut the groove? Rockoonz - yep I saw one of your "recylcled" wire necklaces, and I thought that was just an ingenious idea!! talk about "goin green"....too cool! Mossy - I am still working on that idea. It's a trial and error thing, combining a couple things....when I actually get 1 done that I like, I'll get it posted!!! Thanks everyone!! Marie

Marie - re: groove. What the ideal would be is the groove would be exactly as deep as the diameter of the wire going into it. The idea being to have the visible surface of the wire level with the adjacent surface of the stone. (ideally) Good luck with that - I haven't yet achieved anything close to ideal, but it hasn't stopped me from trying! Tom PS - I have a grooving bit for my glass grinder. www.delphiglass.com/index.cfm?page=itemView&itemsysid=188584
