I have been trying to solve a very annoying problem with my hand tools, particularly the wire wrapping pliers. The soft plastic grips work loose. I have tried getting them to stay put using epoxy, contact cement, and super glue. None work. Have any of ya'll found a fix for this annoying problem? Is there some other type of glue that might work better than what I have tried so far? Or any helpful idea would be great.
Thanks; Mike

Maybe rough up the metal before gluing?

Try cleaning the metal with acetone, then using Pliobond. You will have to appl it then slige the grips on. If you try to do per instructions you will not get the grips on.
An alternative is to discard the grips, and use Plasti dip. It will work better if you preheat the handles first. You might want two or three dips letting it dry before each dip, and heating each time.

A trick for motorcycles keeping grips on is good old hairspray, and it'll keep grips firmly in place on smooth chrome handlebars. Maybe give it a shot...

Some plastic exudes oil. I have had fair luck by pouring Alcohol into the grip and then pushing the darn thing on while it is still moist. If all else fails the Acetone or M.E.K. followed by Super Glue after it dries should get-er-done ! Even some of the higher priced tools have the cheezy type handles and they CAN be a REAL pain to work with.

Hello Mike,
Sixty years ago when I was in the RAF. All hand tools were issued without plastic covers.
We would strip the cover off coaxial cable, cut it to size, immerse them in hot water, this would expand the plastic and make it easier to slip them onto the handles, as they cooled they would shrink tight.
Hope this helps,
Derek
