I think you might be on track with the coprilite........sounds good, and those big meat eaters did not bone out their dinners. Anothr thought, it could possibly be from a diseased bone? Of course, I am only guessing, but what ever it is it is no good, please send it to me for safekeeping. Woody

Thanks guys! Woody I think I'll hold on to it, but thanks just the same.. heh. Todd I'm not going to tumble it. If anything I might cut a slab from it someday, but for now it's staying as-is.

Not trying to be a smart -$$ but it looks like a piece of petrified stew meat !
Bone, fat and all. It is WAAAAAY neat lookin , and, the only thing wrong with THAT specimen is,
it doesn't weigh 20 lbs. MORE !

That is a piece of dino bone! Looks like the minerals got into this bone and started the petrifited process-you got a winner! ;D A person don't see many bones like that........

Boy Beef, that is an odd one! I'd lean more towards bone too. Just not a full cellular replacement. But then, I look at some of the last pics in the series and I'm almost thinking some kind of fossil wood. Hurry up and slab up that puppy so we can see it in a nice clean cross section. I love these puzzlers. I could look at them and ponder what they might be all day!. I got a couple of slabs from Daniel awhile ago that I pull out every month or so and stare at a long while. I keep thinking that if I eyeball them long enough, they'll tell me what the heck they are but to no avail *L*....Mel

That is really cool Beef! Did you collect it or purchase it somewhere? If you collected it, maybe there's more?

It could be bone that partially rotted away leaving a void that allowed a cast to form in void. What remained of the bone was replaced showing typical dino cell structure. Petrified wood that was covered green will shrink leaving voids that can fill with agate. The parts of yours without cell structure looks like very nice moss agate. Where is it from?

I assume you wet this before taking the pictures? We have buckets full of dino bone, and none of it looks like that. But i'm no expert.

Nate and John I got this in a small collection I bought. I really have no idea where it was collected. Stick, yes it was wet when I took these pics. Donnie I haven't brought myself to cut it yet. If I ever do you can bet I'll post the pics.

At the bottom of pics 2 & 3 you can clearly see bone cell structure. Don
