That is a really nice find. I wonder if quartz was used often for making points? The points I have seen usually are of flint or obsidian.

Very cool find! Up in Clear Lake, California where the Lake County Diamonds ( amorphous quartz crystals) come from, a few of those quartz points come to light every now and then. I used to dig on a ranch up there and a the ranch caretaker found one one day when we were digging....Mel

Here in GA, the white quartz arrowhead is the only type I have ever found, or seen that anyone else has found. That is a very nice speciman you have there! Mike

I have found some made of Agate. They are generally raher crude due to the difficuty of knapping such a tough material Bob

Most of the ones we find in our area are agate, jasper, chert or flint, but we do seem to find quite a few made out of quartzite as well.....

I have some made out of quartz,jasper ,chert and flint some not native to south dakota.
