I've got an expandable rubber sanding drum with bushings that are about 9/16" & too small for the 3/4" shaft of my Highland Park lapidary machine. I want to swap the bushings for a larger size. I'm not sure if this is a Scott-Murray drum or RayTech. Perhaps the metalic blue color will give it away. I can't seem to remove the bushings so I can install a larger size. As you can see from the photo, the bushing is hard rubber. here is a second identical bushing on the other side. I was hoping that I could just pry them out. Perhaps that's the way, but I don't want to ruin anything. Any experience with this drum/bushing combination? Lynn Attachments:

Definitely not Raytech. Scot Murray's I've seen are a green color. Look down the bore and see if it is split inside. If so they should pry out.

Unfortunately that looks like a press fit bushing (not supposed to be changed). Is this an 'old' drum?
Measure the outside diameter of the old bushing (exactly) to see if it matches the new bushings outside diameter before you do any prying. If they are identical, you may be able to carefully tap (push) the old ones out from the inside of each opposite side (every tap (push) should be 180* from the other one).
Or maybe you could try to trade it with someone who has your size and can use yours.

Looks like a Lortone I have, but my bushings come out easily. Ken

I was wrong....not a Lortone. Mine is different color (gray) and doesnt have the big washer. Have a covington that is very similar except it is dark green.

It doesn't look like my old Scott-Murrays, either. FWIW, mine say "Scott-Murray" along the rim. I don't recall the color of mine and can't check it right now, but the bushings are very different. Mine just have a plastic bushing that slides right out, not the large washers that you have.
Sorry, not much help.
