Anybody use "Rez Belts"? Someone asked me about them and I told him I knew where to find out. Do you spray with extender and load diamond as on buffs? After loading do you use with water? How do they compare with diamod bets as far as economy and durability? Thanks in advance.

John Have never used them. Did find them on RayTec site. www.raytech-ind.com/diamond.htmThis is what they said; Rechargeable Diamond Rez Discs & Belts Effective carrier for Diamond Compound and Spray. The resin impregnated fabric locks diamond particles in place from compounds or sprays for quick, high quality finishing of gemstones without water. Mike

Wow! I guess they wouldn't work with heat sensitive stones. A dry belt would get really hot. Sounds like they would only be used for polishing mesh diamond. Thanks Mike.

I've used them in the upper diamond paste ranges (1200 - 50k). You do have to be careful of heat build up (they'd melt the dop wax if you weren't careful), but they put a terrific shine on the stones I used them with. The belts last forever - just recharge with diamond every now and then, spray with silicon spray (or extender fluid) and keep going.
But yeah - NOT for heat sensitive stones!

Ronda, how do they compare with diamond belts as far as performance and lifespan?

Belt life basically was forever, or so it seemed - I was using the same belts for about 1 1/2 years with no noticeable wear. I recharged the belts every 20 cabs or so, but was still on my first set of diamond paste when I switched to using two machines and no longer needed a dry belt solution. (My first machine had no water to the expanding drum on the end, so the resin belts were perfect for me.)
I'm sure eventually you'd need to replace the belt, but I think you'd need more diamond paste first...and a tube of that lasts forever as well.

Thought I would add - mine weren't REZ brand belts, though. Mine were labled uncharged resin impregnated belts, but they weren't a Ray-Tech product. I had the choice of Crystal-lite or this other non-named brand, and I chose the non-named brand (were less expensive).
I just looked over Arrowhead Lapidary's site to see if they were still listed, but they aren't. It's been probably 5-6 years since I purchased them.
