Ok, so rockhobbit twisted my arm to get me to post some pictures of specimens, actually she just suggested it...lol. This is my "baby", the largest specimen I have ever found (not purchased). It is from the Butte, MT area and is Diopside, Grossular (Garnet), and Blue Calcite. It weighs somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 lbs (don't know the exact weight because scale is old and inaccurate). The larger crystals are dark green but have lots of calcite in them so are not clear, clean crystals. The other end has smaller lighter green crystals. In between there is a lot of matrix (blue calcite and light green crystalline rock). I thought about busting it to see if more crystals are inside but didn't want the crystals already showing to pop out of the matrix. They are unstable to a certain extent because of the blue calcite. Other end of the specimen - smaller and lighter crystals of diopside One side of the specimen I haven't gotten the knack of taking good pictures of specimens but these give you an idea of what the specimen looks like. Hope you like my "baby". Diane

Oh baby, what a beautiful "baby". I bet looking at that specimen through a loupe is a blast.
Thanks for sharing and looking forward to other pics if you have some.

Thanks sitnwrap. Gee, I never even thought to look at it through a loupe, guess I was too busy gawking at the big crystals...lol.
