Well John, I would think open it up and check to make sure all the wiring is intact. Someone may have gotten in there and chewed on a wire and now it's shorting out.
Good luck!

I'm not any good at electronics, but I'd bet it's a loose / frayed wire, or a bad switch as you said. My other thought was maybe the motor's tight and blowing the fuse from too much of a draw.

Man, that thing is as old as us! Sure looks in good condition though even if the motor is acting up. Even if the motor is toast, a replacement with a used aplance moter would be a cheap fix. Not too many of these units still have the faciting gear . Woody

yea it has most of the parts i think its missin the cutting vise i see a spot that one might have hooked to for small slab cutting i need it for facing the front and back of the flat faced cabs i like to do --- i can do it on the genie but this would be a piece of cake -- so maybe tomorrow ill start takin it apart and see if i can fig it out

Due to that memory thing, and geting old (er) I just remembered who made your thingamajig. It is a a B & I Gem Maker. Sears sold a lot of them when they actually sold useable stuff. They are great for lapping cabs when making doublets, and triplets. Woody

John does it have a grinding wheel for it also? If you don't I think I have one and also some other wheels for it. What size are the wheels?
