Chapinite is a breciated jasper so hardness should not be mixed. I had some once upon a time in greens.

That's a beaut all right. These days, you have to go through a lot of old collection stuff to find the fancy colored hunks. I lucked into a few good pieces a few years ago but man, I had to go through like ten crates of stuff in the burning sun of California's central valley to find the good ones...Mel

Mel, same place I got mine. Bill has more old collection rocks than anyone I think. I'd post his number but don't think he ships or takes credit cards, ebays, etc. Anyone in Central CA PM me if interested. He is 10-15 miles No. of Bakersfield and has tons of rock and used equipment.

Yep, if the sun isn't so hot you can't handle the rocks without burning your hands, Bill's is an awesome place to shop. Except don't touch his petrified wood *L*. He's a wood guy and won't sell any of his wood. I think I've found more good old collection stuff in his huge rockyard at very good prices than in all the other rockshops I've been to in all my life. Wonderful place and he's a swell guy too...Mel
