I was just sitting here looking at the Burro Creek tales and photos when I realized that it had been quite some time since I had actually participated, instead of just lurking. A quick search told me it had been since last May that I had posted something. Whether of not that is a good thing I don't know, but here goes anyway. Sharri and I got more involved with our local club this last year and went on several of their outings with them. These pictures are from one of our favorites, digging for crystals in Northwestern Utah near the Nevada border. I had no idea that there was anything like this around here! A shot looking into the hole where we found the crystal pockets. Friend digging, me sifting. My turn in the hole The take Adding some scale to the clusters Some smokies from just down the hill from the main hole. Sharri found these along with the big single crystals in the other pics. The big Smoky in the upper left is about an inch in diameter. This is the one that my grandkids think looks like the Fortress of Solitude in the Superman movies. Unfortunately, this was the end of our summer fun. A few weeks later I had a heart attack. I'm completely recovered now, and with the rehab, exercise and diet change I've lost 30lbs (10 more to go!) and I'm in better shape than I've been in years, so let's get some SPRING going here so we can get out and hunt some rocks!

Awesome specimens found on that trip! They're gorgeous.
Good to hear the heart attack didn't set you back too far. Take care of yourself so you can go get more great treasures to share with the grandkids!

Thanks guys, I appreciate the thoughts. Tony, spring can't come soon enough. I've stared at the TV over the front of a treadmill and stationary bike about long enough! I need to walk some actual hills with a bucket in my hand.

Those crystals are beautiful! With all the good excersize and changes after your heart attack, hidden crystals don't stand a chance evading you. Glad to hear you recovered well.

Man that looks a lot like diggin' at Date Creek here in AZ. You sure found some beauties, especially the smokies! Glad to hear you've bounced back after the attack!
