Not to steal your thread but thought maybe you could answer my question - I have a bag of these shells (1 pound), can they be tumbled? I don't want to ruin them as they look pretty cool, but wondered how I could dress them up... thanks in advance!

Yeah if its the actual shells I would suggest a respirator as well as I believe I have read that they cause the most silica dust in the air .

Some days are gold, some are rocks. Either is cool.

I don't need the turritella, but I want to tell that your rockhound is one of the cutest critters I've ever seen. But the turritella looks like it's super quality. Love that stuff. Jo

I have enough of my own, however I want to say it looks like good solid material. Two dollars per pound is a super price, as some places charge more than that at wholesale. And yes it can be tumbled and it is a popular material, tumbled pieces sell well. Daniel

Arrived today, and it does appear solid and potentially beautiful! I haven't gotten it home yet, and don't know how much it weighs, but I would guess a good bit more than the 10 pounds I paid for.
Thanks for the wonderful rock and your generosity!

Got mine today too. Unfortunately, some other rocks, distinctly not turitella, happened to get mixed in with my order. They must have hopped in while you were packaging another order. I'll try to post pictures tomorrow and you can let me know if I should send them back.
LOL, thanks for the extras. I thought that box weighed a bit more than it should have...
