it's a sedimentary conglomerate, looks like it's composed mostly of grains of quartz and granite, cemented together by a finer grained sandstone like material. It probably won't polish evenly, the sandy material will undercut.

Donnie, That material is Llanite from near Llano, Texas. It a rhyolite porphyry with reddish microline feldspar, biotite mica, blue quartz phenocrysts, and a bunch of other stuff mixed in. It's a extrusive igneous rock of the Llano uplift and closer to a granite, not a sedimentary rock....Mel

Wow! That was a mouth full. Thanks Mel. It sure looked pretty in the sun. Now I am curious as to what it will look like when I cut it & cab it. I can do that, can't I?

Cab away I have cabbed some of it and it looks good! Best I remember it is messy when cutting and grinding turns everything brown. Keith
