Heres an easy way to control the depth of a groove on a Gpyphon machine.I used a piece of thin metal and a pair of small machine screws.I had to grind a small amount of the metal in the middle of the strip to clear the cutter. The setup in this pic is good for cabs with a flat back. For tumbled cabs or ones with a beveled or rounded back I used another nut to bring the strip on top of the cutter, washers can be used too.The holes in the strip are larger than the screw to allow for depth adjustment. You can use thicker material for the strip but there isn't a lot of room under the cutter. All material is stainless steel. So far I've done about six cabs and it works good.
