Can't tell you much about the machinery (and I'm sure someone here can), but I think I see some rocks in the storage bin underneath the cabber. ;D Depending on how much work the equipment needs, you might have quite a find here Nancie. Jo

I saw it too, and it's only about 25 miles from me and it says OBO. Looks like the saw and grinder are seperate. Also looks like SIC wheels instead of diamond, 2 wheels-expando- with polish pad on the end. May be another wheel with no water source there. Ken

I have no time anymore for rocks and I am headed to Florida in 3 weeks for a job interview. I certainly don't want to move all this stuff that I am not using. I will never lose interest in rocks and when time allows will start again I am sure! columbiamo.craigslist.org/for/1694117113.html ;D John

Make an offer! If all is included you might walk away with a bunch of surprises! Susan

IMHO, $600 is wayyyyy to much for that equipment. I've bought better for under $150. Most recently I bought a lortone LU6 saw and wheel combo for $120. Looks like it might need some work too..... But once made usable, you'll have all you need !
Good Luck! Phil

Hmm... never seen that kind of machine before. It might be a home built unit. If it's built well, the bearings are in good shape and the wheels are still good then you have a nice machine there. It's nice to have a saw and grinder combo. I agree it's a little for pricey. It's something you probably have to look at to make a determination. You can get a good machine for less by keepin an eye out. Steve

O.K. I've got him talked down to $450. It has new motors and the blade is fairly new. It is two separate units and sold under the Sears name. It has been totally refurbished with new bearings and water cutoffs. Going to look at it this afternoon. Ken

Went to look at the machine today. I bought it. Well worth the original price, I think. Blade looks brand new and the motors are new and works great. Wheels (sic) are barely used. Was his grandfathers. 2 wheels, expando, 1 1/2" felt wheel for polishing and a leather pad on the end with 14,000 diamond polish. Lots of extra belts and about 3 boxes of agates and other stuff. Didn't go through the rocks. Ken

I replied to your PM before I read the forum. So I take it you thought it was worth it?

I think Sears stuff was made by one of the more reputable Lapidary companies way back when. Use those SIC wheels till they're worn out and then get some diamond!

I drove to Ken and Donna's to pick-up the saw. These two are the definition of "Good People". I would have loved to have spent more time at their home but other obligations had to be met. Ken was nice enough to disassemble the saw/grinder so I could get it into my vehicle. Then he and Donna gave me 'the tour'. Man o man....rocks upon rocks and I didn't get to see them all. I was gifted several great specimens and rocks. I can't wait to go thru them this weekend and get my saw set up. I just need to figure out where to buy mineral oil by the gallon.
Ken - Donna, if there is anything I can do for you or yours...I'm there. Thanks again for everything! Nancie

Cheapest place will be your local veterinary supply.
