Hi all, Ohhhh how I do love doublets. If I could choose just one lapidary specialty, doublets would be IT. Doublet construction and rough grind done by myself, a super duper liquid polish by Dennis and wrapping done by myself. The first, an uncommon Agate Creek agate doublet with an even lesser seen pattern. This one was backed by white quartz to show off this pattern. Wrapped in hand twisted sterling silver. This next one is a Flame Agate doublet, also backed by white quartz to show off the pattern. The cool thing about this one is that it has red AND black flames. Same story on this one........doublet construction and rough grind by myself, a lovely liquid polish by Dennis and wrapping by myself done in hand twisted 14kt gold filled. Thanks for looking! Shannon

Both are truly awesome I think that I like the second one best, the cab and wire appeal most to me but I'm not sure why. Beautiful work on both!

I don't think I've ever seen any of your wraps Shan, they're gorgeous! The doublets are awesome too. You two certainly know how to treat a rock!

Wow Shannon those are really nice stones and I love the way the wraps don't hide the stones' features. I think the red flame looks like something I have labeled Forest Fire Flame from Mexico. Kind of like flames with black ash flying off it.....Mel

the cab and wire appeal most to me but I'm not sure why. Its the flames Randy, the FLAMES. LOL ;D Thanks for the kind words everyone, we really appreciate it. Nate, Im generally pretty unhappy with my wraps so I havent posted many. I finally have found a method that works for me that doesnt make me want to scream and throw the wire across the room. Shan

You two make a great cabbing team! Adding a white background meant a lot for these stones I think, the pattern pops so clearly now! As for the shine, it's almost blinding! Both are gorgeous, but the depth of the pattern in the first one makes it my favorite. The pattern in the 2nd one looks like a volcano eruption, with those black/red colors mixed.

Beautiful cabs and equally beautiful wraps. That flame agate is absolutely off the hook. Smart idea to back those included clear stones with the white backing to make the patterns pop.

 Wow!!! Just WOW! You know, both remind me of the volcanoes right now. The first with the magma flying into the sky, backed by the billowing white plumes and the second from the fiery pit within. Your wraps are perfect and just look so elegant! Beautiful work Shan and Wolf! Fran

Those are beautiful. I like the second one best. Those flames are just beautiful and you did a great job. Sounds like a great team effort to me.

Thank you all so very much for the kind words. I really enjoyed doing these. They are sure some great materials too work with. I'm glad Shannon was able to get these posted for you all too see.
Tony W : between cutting and polishing I havent been doing much of anything .... that i can say on the forum hehehe but the 10 inch saw is down for repairs , dang threads on the carriage/vise are shot.
Amber : I aint tellin ;D maahahaha :cheesy:

Hey, Wolfie...you can get a thread restorer thingy that can fix threads that aren't too buggered up. The one I have I got years ago...it is a square rod with an assortment of thread sizes on all sides and both ends. YOu just file the chosen thread size across the messed up threads and it cuts you some new ones. Sorry the saw is down but between being bad and polishing like a mirror I'd say you are doing all right T
