Scot, Mel and I had so much fun yesterday we decided to stay and rock hound for another day. We picked up our friend Joe this morning and headed out to check out an old mine with lots of green jasper, it turned out someone had recently come in and cleaned it out. So we decided to go check out another closed mine which was on old open pit mercury mine. Here is a shot from the top looking down into the pit. Down in the pit, looking at a large cinnabar deposit Now that is an agate!!! Too bad it wouldn't fit in the truck, I think I could get it in but I don't think I could get the tail gate shut. A whole bunch of agates, opalites, and wonderstone all in a big pile Joe had to head for home, so we dropped him off and then headed out to look for the Gary Green deposit. We had looked for it yesterday, but never did find it. Wandering around looking for it Finally found it! We worked on this seam for a while and got a few pieces off of it, then we went looking for easier pickings. We did find a better area, and once again lots of ooooh looky at this one and no pics. We are getting ready to head out, so we thought we would do a group shot of us tired and dirty but very very happy! We are headed to Winnemucca tomorrow to pick up some equipment and rocks I bought, then we are going to head for home, hope to be there tomorrow night. Thanks for lookin...................Tony

Wonderful trip, and that green color is AMAZING!
Looking at your previous rockhounding trips, I thought there's no rock which you couldn't pick in your truck but that one is a real monster. I think your truck is really glad you left it there.

That's too cool, great pics!! I still can't even imagine all of that agate just laying around. Nothing around here but concrete and asphalt, and some granite.
