i attempted these wraps a long time ago . i used wire from the hardware store . i got discouraged and stopped triing . i have since got more commfortable with my results . anyhow i found these in a box last night . hopefully it might encourage others to keep trying . even if it is rough in the beginning . --paul similar idea to the way that i finally used successfully .but , more messy. ammature groove wraps the grooves were cut in rocks , before tumbling . thanks for looking !! --paul

Wow, you've come a long way in a short time, Paul. Never thought of cutting a groove in a tumble cab; I'll have to remember that. Part of the learning process is allowing ourselves to just "play" with the wire, with no pressure on yourself over the outcome. You just have to try different techniques out. This proves how much work you put in, and your finished wraps show the benefits of that work, Paul. Jo

I agree with Jo, you have come a long way. It's good to see the older wraps to give some perspective on the progress. The "groove" wraps are interesting especially since they are tumbled stones. Keep wrapping.

I can see a big advantage in grooving the stone prior to tumbling. No rough edges to show around the wire. Great idea. Don

Interesting way to do the groove wraps, Paul! I especially like how din you did the last one. You only have to use a thicker wire.

Wow. Reminds me of my first ones. Good thing you kept at it. What a difference a little practice makes. Thanks for sharing those. They should be an inspiration to all new wrappers. Maybe we can do a thread with everyone showing their first wrap and a new one and keep it at the top so all new comers won't be discouraged.

Thanks for sharing Paul. They're really not that bad. I'd wear the tiger eye - that's a nice stone!

Boy, that brought back memories and a smile! But I must say, your efforts were admirable with wire from the hardware store. Every now and then, I still produce one of "those." Susan
