Yo everyone! A few weeks ago I came into some chert & flint. About 20lbs of material. It really difficult to get in this area (Arizona) Anyway this material is fabulous. I had no idea! I've come to the realization that 20,000 year ago this 20lbs would have been more valuable then gold! Ed

Hey, Ed, good to see you back. That stuff really polishes up beautifully, so I've heard.

Hi Don! Yep when you consider the properties of chert & flint in ancient days the material was indispensable! Considering that it knaps easily into a sharp tool & creates the necessary weight for long range throwing sticks. Ah ah … hunting for meat just got easier ! The even more magical property that the ancients valued was its ability to spark when struck. A material with proper skill to create fire! What a boon! No wonder that a healthy trade occurred with this material. When I came into this material I realized its value. I ran all over town with it. Explaining its properties making my point! Ha ha !! The foundational rock that helped create homo hablis… for better or worse… Ed
