Glad you pressed on despite the sore fingers. This looks good. I wonder if you are using square wire for the bail that maybe 1/2 round would work better for you.

I like the design. Imo, it can be worn by a man or a woman. Was it the size or the shape of the stone or both that made your fingers sore? I was just wondering.

thanks for your comments !!!! i'll answer the questions below. Glad you pressed on despite the sore fingers. This looks good. I wonder if you are using square wire for the bail that maybe 1/2 round would work better for you. actually , i finished with the square with wire just because , i had a leftover peice ( i have hot been able to use my ends to make nice swirls . THEY turn out really dorky looking & very messy ) so i have just been cutting them off and hiding the ends in the final wrap . THANKS for the suggestion of half - round. i did not know the reason of 1/2 round . but ,soon is you mentioned it ( a light switch went on & i figured it out .) i'll buy some in my next order . Thanks !! and . Lori --- what made my fingers sore was ..... on the upper corners .... i made the bend in the wires before i wrapped the binding ..... maybe i did that wrong . ............. it was a definite challenge . i'm learning , from what i see on here & by trail & error . it might be easier with classes in person . but without the help of RTH members , i probably would have quit already . THANKS !!!! --paul

Good Job! I agree that it can be warn by a man or a woman. Must be something with the shape I guess. You did a great job framing it! Fran

Paul, keep wrapping, it takes practice to get swirls. I'm glad the switch went on for you. I have those en-lightening moments a lot (sometimes I just say to myself "well duh")...lol. Another thing I thought about was if you are using half-hard wire it might be harder to do swirls. I use dead soft. It will harden as you work it but it starts off soft enough so that the swirls cooperate. Trial and error is how we all learn IMO. I had one lesson from rockhobbit but the rest was trial and error and sometimes success. Classes can be good and also looking at free tutorials online can help. You've got the basics down for sure.

Paul, I thought that would be it. I also find squared tops difficult. One trick I use now for any point that the wires will be wrapped around is to angel/bend the wire with flat nose pliers before the stone is in the wire. The only "down" side is that the measurement of where you put the angle/bend in the wire has to be exact. but it saves the fingers and helps make the wire sit tightly to the side of the stone.
Just a little trick that you might be able to use.

Cool wrap Paul, keep at it. I know what ya mean about having to work at it! Wrapping is the hardest thing I've done.
