We have several Barred Owls on our property, but usually only seen feeting glimpses of them either late aafternoon, or at night. This young one was beeing hassled by a young Harrier Hawk (also a property resident) in the eary afternoon. The close up was at nearly full magnification and handheld so is soft from camera movement. Very very cool! We used to have a Barred Owl named Spooky at the raptor center and it was the sweetest little owl ever, just a big ole ball of fluff. Thanks for the pic of one of my favorite birds....Mel

We had several friends over for dinner yesterday, and the whole owl family was in the trees at the lawns edge. There were several 8 to 10 year olds that really enjoyed the owls. They are so tame, you can get within ten to fifteen feet. Woody

That is wonderful that they came out for the visitors. It sparks such curiosity in the kids and make them really interested in learning about them after they have seen one for themselves! Fran

That is so cool! I rarely see owls during the day but its so fun to see them. Amber and I saw a coyote up in New York last week. That was a first daytime sighting for me. Thanks for the pics.
