How do I do that? Can I use a buffer wheel to accomplish this with some polish on it? Do I run the dremel at high speed, or slow it down a bit? It's a real pretty Jasper, and I'd like to shine it up. And is there anybody out there making any kind of jewelry type stuff with their stones? I don't mean 'fine' lapidary stuff; just fastening stone to things rather than just filling a jar with them (not that there is anything wrong with that). I have some people who like my stuff and I'd like to do something with it. I remember something about super glue and baking soda or something, for adhesive. Anyway; e-mail me if you have any hints. I don't want to clog up the board with lengthy directions, and suggestions, unless we get a full concensus from the members who will provide legitimate documentation of their approval.

banjo - i got the book Moods in Wire and i have some other info i can share with you after i get home this evening with easy follow steps for wirewrapping stones that i've printed off the net to use. i ordered a wire wrapping kit from www.jewelrysupply.com that arrived this week along with some wire and an optivisor. of course one would need to have a completed batch to practice on! the dalmations are going to polish this weekend so maybe in a week+ i'll have some stones to practice on. i'd say i'll post a pic after i do one but since i don't know how this will go.... if y'all don't see a pic you know my first attempts didn't turn out well. of course if it does go badly i could post it and say my child did that one lol . kim

Excellent, excellent, stuff, that is exactly what I was looking for. Now; anybody got the scoop for me on how to polish a slab with a dremel? I have these little compressed cotton(?) buffing wheels if I load them up with muddy polish will it work at high speed? I now have a folder full of wire wrap patterns, thanks to all. But I have some nice slabs I'd like to work on, with a little guidance, before I botch them up. Thanks! -Banjo

I am also going to do some wire wrapping. I already have some copper wire from a previous project I will use to practice with as soon as I get some polished stones.
I found a pattern for making "book jewelry" - aka a bookmarker - that's kinda of cute. I made one using a bead for practice and it turned out pretty nice.
I think we are all going to have so many polished stones a few months down the road, that we will start trying all sorts of things with them.

THANK YOU WarrenA... I feel much better now! I fear not the demon of unwanted scratches, I lift my head proudly and attempt to polish what I have never before polished! With a means, I have never before used, for a cause...I know not, other than the self satisfaction of saying "I'VE DONE IT." Thank you!
