Well... we settled on the house. Here's our new house with our old house in the background. A few days before settlement, we pulled into a campground about 30 miles from the house to prepare ourselves for life on the road. We were pretty cozy. Then... the day before settlement, a tornado blew in. We were in Glenmoore, which is about midway between Hershey and Philly. One minute, Bill was trying out our new metal detector, and the next we were fighting the wind to get our awning down in time. As we watched the trees bend sideways and torrents of rain, we heard branches hit the roof punctuated by violent thunder and lightning. After several minutes, we emerged from our camper... we were surrounded by a runoff stream. The neighbor next to us was okay, but their tent and car weren't. They took cover in the game room and were safe, thank goodness. Another neighbor had a stream running through his tent. I'll post the rest in a few minutes... we're in the truck and at a rest stop.

One camping neighbor couple had been sailing on the lake in Marsh Creek State Park when the tornado hit. They dropped sails and ran to shore and linked arms around the base of a tree with a fellow sail boater. They saw a funnel cloud, the tops of trees twist off, a water spout, and boats get picked up and dropped. Luckily they were fine. We drove to check on the house that evening and it was fine. Getting there was tricky, as we had to weave around downed trees and wires, and we saw how extensive the damage was. The power was out everywhere and is still out in most places. Anyway, we were happy to head out of the area as soon as the roads were passable. We did have some trouble leaving and picked up a downed wire that was hiding in the leaves of a branch as we weaved around it on the road. We met up with Paul Rockrookie and his family last night and boy were we glad to see them! They were so kind to pick us up and take us out to eat and we celebrated our new homes together. Then we came back to the camper to relax and talk rocks for a bit. Here are adorable girls Sarah and Lydia with Angie. And the whole family! Paul, Becky and the girls in our new home. Thanks Paul-- it was too short again, we didn't get nearly the time we would have liked to look at rocks and cabs and jewelry, but we will do it again soon! Thanks for looking everyone. Jo

Thanks Y'all! Boy, I'll tell ya... Paul and family were a sight for sore eyes!!! Paul is so awesome, he understood that we were a little shaken and took us out to dinner and then brought some tools and climbed up onto our roof to give us his opinion on our "hitchhiker" (some wire that was caught on our A/C unit) and helped Bill secure it for the rest of the ride until we get to a place where we can schedule repairs (Paul, in the rain today, we had a little leakage through one of the bolts, so we're not gonna attempt it on our own... we know when we are out of our league! LOL) Thank you Paul!

I know... sigh... it was really a great house and it was really good to us... but, this is a totally new experience for us and we're stretching ourselves and challenging our ability to cope so that we will hopefully be able to cope with anything.
Randy, if my crystal ball is worth its salt, you'll be doing this too, sooner than you think! Then we can caravan! LOL

Man Jo, when you leave, you leave with a BANG! I'm glad no one was hurt and sorry that there was some damage. With that and then meeting up Paul and his family, what a way to begin one heck of an adventure.

Rambling? I think not. I enjoyed seeing your wraps too, Paul. Just love the lapis with the single, simple wire. Lori, LOL. Boy, I'll tell ya... we were so grateful to have gotten through that storm, we just felt so lucky and blessed.. it really set the perfect tone for our embarkation. Ken- you betcha! We'll try to shake off these storms and leave 'em behind!

Goodness... I just saw this thread Jo. Glad to hear you are safe and traveling down the road. Is this the reason you need to get some repairs at Bullyan?
Nice to see your wonderful family Paul!
Stay safe Jo!
