Well guys, I haven't posted in a while but I've been working, here are a couple of pieces I've finished recently. This is a commission for a friend, rose quartz in argentium. A simple piece of amethyst And this isn't stone, but a friend from Austria is sending me these pieces to have wrapped, they're plants preserved in resin and I think they look pretty cool What do you all think? - Krista

These are all very nice Krista, your wraps are beautiful! Do you know the kind of resin used for the last ones? I have a similar project my daughters and I want to do, and the resin is the answer to my ??'s.

Those are very nice Krista! The one with the resin is also very unique. I also would like to know the type of resin she used. Donnie

Well guys I'm not really sure what all goes on with the resin, I don't do any of that stuff, but this is what she puts in her Etsy descriptions: "Pendant measures 2 inches including the bail and comes with an approx. 16 inches cotton cord with a silver clasp. This piece is the result of a collaboration between the talented artist Krista DeSelms (wirework) and me (resin). The pendant has been carefully made from hand picked wild plants. The leaves are quickly dried, dissected, preserved and cast in multiple layers of XOR-crystal resin, a kind of resin which was specially created for preserving natural materials such as plants and animals. I make most of the moulds myself, for greater individuality. Every single piece is being sanded eight (!) times before polishing. The whole process takes at least two weeks, very often longer. I do not use endangered species. Resin is a very durable kind of plastic, still the pendants shouldn't be dropped on hard ground. They are fairly resistant to scratching." I hope that helps and thank you all for the compliments

Thanks for the description Krista.
I googled the XOR-crystal resin, and came up with it being a polyester casting resin. Further searching of "polyester casting resin" brought up plenty of info.

Those are all beautiful, Krista. The last amethyst one is stunning - wherever did you find such a "pure" piece of amethyst! Love it.

I went and bought some resin stuff too!! I'm so excited about it, but I have to find some good molds before I can get started. *sigh*
Thanks guys, I really love labradorite too, it's one of my all time favorites, it and amethyst lol if you can't tell. I bought that piece of amethyst at a really nice store in Omaha, NE called Custom Gems Inc. I just wish they had bigger cabs, almost all of them are just pretty small.
