Very cool! Is all that held together or is it very fractured?

If I would cut a slab from it the slab would hold together because there is some clear material between the brecciated jasper segments but there would be a lot of vugs showing. Bob

Chapinite is jasper that was fractured by the good old Southern California earthquakes, and later filled back in with clear or sometimes colored agate. It's usually pretty solid, with some vugs. Often the vugs are crystal lined, and can cut some interesting cabs. Sometimes many different colors of jasper are present, usually in pastel colors. Don

Very interesting stuff, I've never even heard of it before. Thanks Don for the information and thanks Bob for the wonderful picture.
