New here and just wanted to introduce myself. This looks like a great site! Full of info.!! I have a loritoneB, and have done about 8 batches so far. I love the pacific coast, and mostly collect agates to tumble. I've had some good, and some not-so-good results so far! Patience and practice??? Or maybe a little sound advice...

Welcome aboard dianeandkota. Where abouts on the pacific coast do you live ? Tho I no longer live on the west coast, I might be able to steer you towards some good collecting sites. You'll find plenty of info on this forum about tumbling and collecting tumbling material. Don't be afraid to ask questions. The folks on here are always happy to give answers. Don

Thanks Don! I don't really live on the coast, but collecting beach agates makes a great excuse to go to a beach!! I actually live in southern WA State...right near where the Columbia and Snake Rivers meet. Some great rock hunting here also. We have found a little of everything around here, from arrowheads to agates to petrified wood. It's just not as much fun as beach combing!
Northern CA, (Crescent City area), and central OR, (Lincoln City Area), have been our favorites so far. We're planning a trip to the Dungeness Spit area of WA in a few weeks. Not sure what's up there!
I'm looking for some info on how to polish agates with the white coating paterns on them. I don't want to lose the coating...trying a new "polish" 1500 silicon carbide. First try was a flop. Took off the shine rather than adding it!! Trying it more as a pre polish now. We'll see!!!
