Does anyone know what type of wood this is or where it's from? Or maybe it's something else? I thought it was pretty neat with the big cells Thanks!

Sure looks like petrified palm to me. There are so many places where it's found, that it would be hard to name a location. Don

Might be palm or even fern of some kind or dino bone, but I'm leaning more towards that Pocket Rot Wood ( AKA Dino Bone wood) from Texas. Matt Dillion pictures quite a few examples on his flickr site. dardilrocks is the name on his photostream. He's an ardent collector of that type wood and has taken quite a few pics of his finds both raw and cut and polished.....Mel

On that first pic, you can just tell that the cabs are going to have some incredible depth to them.

Yup, same thing I call ghost wood. Yours is agatized and has larger cells, mine is more of a jasper . Sure wish I could get back to that creek. Curt
