the dalmation stones will go to polish this weekend. i've never done a polish stage so here are my questions:
Is it ok if you don't put sugar and just use the polish and pellets? How much sugar do you use if you use it? I have a 6# barrel.
On Andy's polish phase he ends with just getting them out of the polish. He doesn't say about rinsing, burnishing, cleaning. What do y'all do?

I just use polish and pellets, as a rookie I will experiement with other agents at a later date. If you are not satisified with how they look they can either be returned to the polish or you can add the the sugar then. Rinse well and they should be done. There are a lot more tips in the earlier pages in this forum read back and you will find a wealth of knowlege

Hi Kim, I was always told to use twice as much sugar as polish. I've played around with different amounts and ended up not using any sugar. I now use corn syrup. I add about one ounce per pound of rock. This seems to have done more to help than anything else I've tried.

alright i'm convinced the frothy stuff comes from using a new barrel. i put them in a new barrel to do step 3 and haven't peeked or bothered them until today to get them cleaned for polish. it was full of froth so i soaked the new polish barrel in warm water and rinsed it real well before moving them to that new barrel. i only had to remove 3 stones that i didn't think should go on. i only added cerium oxide polish and virgin pellets - no sugar or corn syrup. i hope they'll be alright! the wait is killing me already!
at least i have some other loads to pick on while i wait...
