Another yard sale find today have no clue what it is. The guy said it was a rock from a broken bookend. I not sure if it was a composition material or a rock. I tried to see if it would burn off my Torch at 1700 degrees roughly. It only through off small tiny fragments but hot. Olive tan tone grain lines. Very hard to scratch this material and maybe 3-4 lbs roughly. Thanks, CMan

Could be lizardstone od maybe Butterstone from Africa, a very old sedimentary rock ( 2 1/2 billion years old) that is often used for bookends. It comes in various colors of green and yellow with bands too. Very pretty hunk of rock you have there whatever it is!.....Mel

I'd guess some kind of banded chert or flint....
