OK, here's another round of swaps I'd like to offer. As I said in my first post, I have a major problem with lack of space. Therefore, I don't want to trade weight for weight. I want to ship out a big box and get a little box back. I realize I'll be paying more for postage than the other guy, and I don't care. It's worth it to me to make some space and maybe get some nice SMALLER items.
Today, I am trying to clear out two boxes of Chevron Amethyst. I don't want to over-sell the material, it has a
pretty color, but it's pretty common and pretty inexpensive, so I don't want you to expect too much
just because of the word "amethyst." I THINK I was told that most of it came from
India, but honestly I don't know. For those of you who don't know, Chevron Amethyst is not gem grade or (usually)
translucent. It is a light purple with white triangular stripes on it -- a chevron was a triangular shield,
I think. Here is a small piece we started from this material, just for an example:
We never got around to polishing the piece but it is a quartz and it does take a good polish. I'm not going to claim
that it's my personal favorite as a material though. I think it used to wholesale around $2 a pound, and maybe it still
does, please do your research to check current prices. I can ship a medium flat rate box with tracking/delivery confirmation
within the United States for $11.40. I am happy and even eager to take something in exchange that is smaller and
cheaper to ship. Wouldn't have to be anything fancy.
OK, I'm about to hop on a plane so probably won't be able to see your messages until Monday. Meanwhile, I will
describe the two boxes I'm offering, and if you're interested, PM me and tell me which of the boxes you'd like and
what you'd like to trade.
Box # 1-- 20 # fist-sized or larger pieces Chevron Amethyst tumbling rough
Sold as tumbling rough but they're quite large and would need to be broken down into smaller
items before you actually tumbled them. Seems like wands, marbles, spheres might be a possibility from
some of these pieces.
Box # 2-- 20 # smaller but still not tiny Chevron Amethyst tumbling rough pieces
These pieces are smaller than fist-sized, but I still think you need to break them up more if you want
to make tumbled pieces. You may or may not be able to get some cabs or carving grade
material out of this. I'll try to put a close-up of a wet item to give you an idea of what the polished
color might look like.
