This rock was found in the Wilson River, Tillamook County, OR about 5-6 years ago. In years of looking, I've only ever found one similar piece, but that was smaller and very pitted everywhere. This one is very solid, almost no pits or major cracks I can see. It's also slightly translucent through most of it. I can't wait to get a real saw someday. This river sometimes has smallish pieces of dark red jaspers, sometimes with yellow or brown, or white quartzy veins. It's usually not very solid, but I keep looking and have collected several pounds over the years. One of the cool things about looking in areas around here that rarely have anything interesting, is that when you do find something, it's likely to be a unique piece, just formed in small pockets or nodules, maybe nothing else like it anywhere. The pics are dark because I'm stuck with a phone camera for now, this was the only way to get anything like true colors. The rock is wiped with oil to show better. I just realized I have a picasaweb account with gmail, so decided to test it out for forum posting. I've got some tumbling going now too, after taking a break for several years. I also hammered up some slabs I had just sitting, and and just pulled the workforce out of stiorage too. Vincent

Forgot to mention that there are a few small spots of green- so it actually has every color of the rainbow in it. Sure wish I could find the rest of it!
