Well, what started out as what I thought was a silly idea has turned into a new monthly event, the Mooresville Craft Crawl. We have a new shopping center near us with a beautifully landscaped center section with a large fountain. We approached the property owners and asked about setting up a once per month craft fair and they've bent over backwards to accomodate us. Now I have a monthly event to display my creations and am oh so happy and excited! Our first show is this Friday evening, so wish me luck. This began with myself and two friends, and as of today we have 24 artisans signed up to show plus a musician we've hired to play in the middle of the area.
I'm posting below some of my creations, hopefully you'll like them. Somehow my love of stones has turned into making hundreds of pieces of jewelry...
Now I apologize for not having been around much lately, but I've been pretty prolific in the whole jewelry making thing. I found that I truly love it. My wife and daughter get new jewelry to try every week!!! I'm sure they both love the fact that they are my guinea pigs. I've even gone as far as buying earring blanks in sterling silver and setting my own stones in them. It's rapidly becoming an addiction to me!!!!!!!!
Now, my shapes still aren't perfect, but I'm having a total blast making these, thanks to so many members here guiding me through the rough spots:
Now these I bought as cabs, about the size of a quarter, and drilled/mounted and hung from sterling silver french hooks. I think they turned out great.
I'm sure the "opals" are probably man-made but they are pretty regardless. Now on the earrings below, I deviated somewhat from stone and these are polished leopard spotted shells on sterling silver with pretty little cloisonne beads above them.
Every one of my daughter's friends I think has earrings from me of one type or another. Lol. Now we have a lot of talented people on this site, so let's see who can figure out what I used to create my patriotic earrings! Any guesses???
I would have never in a million years believed that I would be sitting at my desk almost every night after work creating jewelry! The bracelet below was an all-nighter. Started it around 4 in the evening and looked up, it was 5 the next morning! It was so fun making this for my daughter!
The stones listed on this bracelet above start at the tiny 4mm Lapis dangle and go counter-clockwise around the bracelet (why? heck if I know! lol).
Anyway, this is just a tiny piece of what I've been doing. I have a nice 3' x 6' table under a 10' x 30' tent, and ZERO space available on my table. I mean I've filled every inch of it with items I've been creating. It's been so wonderful coming here and discovering my passion for stones. Then watching you artists make your stuff and me trying to copy what you do oh so well. I can't believe what a wonderful site this has become for me and how it's filled my heart since coming here.
Hugs and kisses to all of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
