Hi! We're in Alexandria TN, east of Nashville and west of Knoxville. Lots of limestone in this area. While helping move some cows at a friend's farm, I found this fossil. Can anyone tell me anything about it? Parts look like shells and another impression looks like a ginkgo leaf. The Face Shells? Ginkgo or more shells? There's another interesting find that I'm gonna post later today or tonight. Thanks much! Jo

The "Ginkgo's" are scallop type shells Jo. Neat find!

I know they look similar to pelecypods ( scallops, clams etc) but I'd say they are brachiopods which have a different symmetry....Mel

Chuck, Mel and Curt, thanks you all have hearts of gold and the brains of Einstein. I'm gonna look up those links in a few minutes (gotta go get my laundry on the other side of the campground before somebody dumps it all out on the floor, LOL).
Greg, that plate has been trompled by cows for quite a while, LOL. Amazing it survived, or... maybe it was because of them that it got uncovered... ;D
Found a couple more yesterday that are a little different.

That's OK Mel, it's just that I have noticed an alarming number of things I know nothing about lately. ;D

I think you will begin to know what I'm talking about in a few years Chuck. Until then, I'll take you one on one in politics any day of the week. Curt

LOL Curt, I believe you would. We'll just have to agree to disagree, although I don't always disagree with you. I became much more conservative when I did some government contracting 20 years ago. Saw a bunch of feds sitting around complaining about how much work they had to do, rather than doing the work. I saw that consistently in several different gov't. offices. That's when I started becoming libertarian.
