Today I am celebrating two huge firsts...
1. My liver function tested normal, the first time in 9 years!
2. My cholesterol tested normal, the first time in +25 years!
It didn't have ANYTHING to do with diet or exercise, but with drinking. I'm actually around 20 pounds heavier than I was at this time last year. I'm at 318 as of yesterday, 6'2", so I need to lose 118 pounds and am enrolled in some pre-operative seminars and courses to prepare for possible lap-band surgery after the first of the year.
9 months ago I quit drinking. I don't know why. Wasn't a conscious decision, just noticed that every time I drank alcohol I got a stomach ache. Got worse and worse to the point of 1 beer would make me nauseious. Wasn't like I was an alchy, but I did enjoy my spirits. So for 9 months I've not had more than one glass of wine in any given week. Yesterday was my annual tune-up/check-up, today the doctor called all excited. Scared the daylights out of me as normally she sends a letter with a lecture about how fat I am and I'm going to die if I don't change my wicked ways...lol...
Anyway, I've been feeling so good lately (well, except for this upper respiratory crud) that I just had to share this here, with so many of you who have had a positive impact on my life recently.
A year and half ago, my father passed away tragically. A year ago I was unemployed. Six months ago I lost my house. And I've been coming here that whole time and being buoyed up by your cheerful comments, so thank you one and all. Again, such a wonderful community we have here!!!!
Happy to say I'm back on my feet again.
