Maybe someone can help me. This is the smallest stone I've worked with (15x20) and I had the hardest time getting the stone to stay still while I wrapped it. It doesn't sit nice and square at the bottom wrap, although it seems secure. Any suggestions?

And, of course, now that I see the pics this size, I can see where the wire got a little scored on the bail. *sigh* I wish this wasn't such an expensive hobby to have.

That's a beautiful wrap! As far as the marks on the wire, if you're really worried about them, I've read tumbling in stainless steel shot will clean that right up. I've not used it myself, but others have talked quite a bit about it.

Oh man...lookie you go girlie!!!! awesome job!!! yep, I dont tumble mine either, but I know a lot who do, and say it works well. Also you can take a fingernail buffer, and buff it right back out. As for the wire not sitting right at the bottom? a cple things may have happened, being an oval stone. It may be that your bottom binding wrap is not quite long enough, and I notice you dont have the side bindings at the top of the stone (look at Randy's tut), this also helps, if while you are wrapping an oval or round stone, you still see this happening, you can take those side girdle wires, the ones that sit right on the edge, not the front or back wires, take those side wires, and just right at either side of that bottom bind, flatten them out on either side. JUST A TINY BIT tho, if you do too much, the wires will look squared off at the bottom, you want it to "just" be squared enough to still look round at the bottom. Does that make any sense at all? Hope it helps!! The wrap is smooth, and clean, and gorgeous....quit being so hard on yourself, what is this your 5th wrap in all? hahahahaha...yeah.....stop bein so hard on you!!! Marie

Thanks everyone!
Marie, thank you for the suggestions you gave. I'll have to keep them in mind.
This one has sold!! I can't believe it!! My first sale in the wrapping venue. I'm thinkin' it might be time to sell the stringing supplies, it no longer interests me in the least!

As for geting the stone to hold still, use masking tape. It holds anything in place while you wrap elsewhere, without leaving marks or sticky spots. If it doesn't behave - tape it! That's my motto.
That is a beautiful wrap.

Beautiful wrap and congratulations on the sale. Amy, I'm with you, if it doesn't behave tape it! With that small of a cab you might think about using smaller gauge wire too, might make a difference.

I just made an order last night and included smaller wire, after my hubby suggested it. LOL These are the things I need to learn to figure out too!! :-)
I'm so excited about the response on my wrapping both here and IRL, I've made three sales already with two more orders to be filled!! After 9 years of stringing necklaces, bracelets, and earrings I never got this kind of response!
