The award for the nicest agate this summer goes to my daughters boyfriend for this Sagenite beauty. My camera in no way could capture the true beauty of this piece. It is pieces like this one that I find the most beauty and mystery in. Do not get me wrong - I love Lake Superior Banders but it is the other Lake Superior agates that I am out there hunting for like moss, plume, brecciated, etc. I am hoping everyone can see all the sagenite needles and sprays both on the front and especially on the back. The front also has two small fortification agtes. The colors include orange, red, cream and brown to an almost black. This one will never be polished or cut in any way. FRONT OF AGATE BACK OF AGATE

AGATE ='s Bands ! they are what drives the agate wagon. tandl, you're just having a very minor setback. someone will show you a special one and then you'll be fine.

Hey - I did not say I am sick of banded agates- they are awesome- but so plentiful. It is the other agates that capture my attention but oh so hard to polish properly.I will be posting some more no banders and you can see for yourself just how unique they really are.

Yooper, it is a great find. I also like the "other" Lakers, especially eyes. There is a thread somewhere around here (maybe in Rock ID Library) with a pdf of "other" Lakers found by North Shore Rocks.
