Anybody know what 'Jet' is? I'm suppose to try and fix a piece of jewelry (yeah, right, I tumble rocks, and wire wrap one, now I'm a jeweler??) for my dear mother in Wisconsin. She says the beads are 'jet'. Looks to me like you could use black glass beads; but, what do I know?

I believe it's a pure form of coal. Gem grade coal? It's very light weight and was used to make jewerly in the early 20th century. I think...
