Hey guys.... My Mother, Diane, and I did our second ever craft show today .... It went O.K., still wasn't very busy ( the weather was amazing ) but we did still make enough to pay for the table and then some, so I guess it was a success... but more on that tomorrow... Anyway, I did find time while there to make a new wrap... This one is a really neat chrysocolla cab wrapped in 21ga silver ( 24ga half round binds ). I tried to make it as simple as possible.... I think the design is pretty neat, but in the end it all came out crooked , so I'm not that thrilled with it... what do you think? Here's a better shot of the cab ( a gift from an amazing RTH'er, thanks you again ). I did my best to capture the incredible mixture of color, but the depth is impossible to capture ... I'll post a back picture later.... for now... How many wires do you think I used? How many seperate binds? Take care, Chris

That looks beautiful. It's not supposed to be perfect, it's handmade. I'd guess you used at least 4 wires and two binds but I'll bet I'd be wrong.

That's great Chris! Like how you kept the wire minimal while still holding the cab. Montanamuskrat told me that his little pipsqueak neighbor girl told him he's not allowed to call that shape a teardrop anymore, because teardrops are sad, he now has to call them raindrops, LOL. Jo

I really like the design idea. That is excellent! I would say it is definitely worth a rework using the same design.

Thanks as usual ... Diane.... Yeah, I guess your right. It's not bad, but it does have character ;D. And yep, four wires... but there are three binds total, way less than my usual... Jo.... I think I'm trying to push the limits of how to expose the whole cab while still holding it securely ( as if that makes any sense? ) .... And just for you ( well, and Montanamuskrat's pipsqueak neighbor lol ) I changed the subject title... thanks for correcting me ;D.... Mike.... I'm definately going to try this again, I have plenty of RAINDROP ( Jo, lol ) cabs to play with....

Beautiful combination, the Chryso & silver. Your little slip up sounds very familiar to me. My last wire wrap I posted showed the same thing!!!!!!!

I think it's a lovely wrap . I just don't know how you get the stone to stay in. that is my biggest challenge, that is besides the the binding on the bail . The stone is fabulous. nancy

Tears of joy Chris... Rain is depressing. LOL! Nice wrap too BTW! Nate Teardrop?? raindrop??..... arghhhhh... now I'm confused ,LOL You are right though Nate, it's been raining all day here and it sure is depressing .... Beautiful combination, the Chryso & silver. Your little slip up sounds very familiar to me. My last wire wrap I posted showed the same thing!!!!!!! LoL, darn blown up pictures.... A good close-up sure does reveal every flaw ..... I think it's a lovely wrap . I just don't know how you get the stone to stay in. that is my biggest challenge, that is besides the the binding on the bail . The stone is fabulous. nancy Actually Nancy, the stone is only held in at the top by the four little prongs witch also hide the bail... also, I'm not sure how you do your bail, but I do mine a little diffrently from Randy's tutorial. I always have some wires running up the back of the stone, and do three or four binds before I actually bend the bail. Then I bend the wires to form the bail and bind them to the wires running up the back. That way everything is held together tightly, and most of the binds on the bail are hidden behind the stone. You can kind of see what I mean on this picture of a wrap I did a while ago... I'll take some pics in the process next time so you can see what I'm talking about.....for now, here's the back pic Thanks again everyone, Chris
