Howdy folks, I cut this Brown Biggs 30X 40 cab for a belt buckle my wife wanted for her cowgirl outfit. Sorry for the tripod reflection in the pic. I was just wondering if any of you folks know where one could obtain any more of these copper finish buckles? I got a few at a Santa Barbara, CA show years ago. They are unmarked as to manufacturer but some of the highest quality premade buckles I've ever had. All have screw on bezels with prongs molded in. They are sized super well and this finish is very popular with everyone I've given one to. The copper finish is great with green jade! I just cannot seem to find who makes them.....Mel

Nope. Sorry. Tandy Leather used to have them in their catalog, but they're not listed in my latest catalog. ---- Don

Gem'nI: Yeah I had thought maybe Eloxite too but no luck in my current catalog. They make a fair buckle but often the calibrated sizes are a bit off, the bezels very shallow, belt loops sometimes defective and break, and weirdest of all, the surface where the cab sits on some of the models is strongly curved. Damned hard to mount a flat backed cab against a curved surface and have it fit well. I've sworn off their buckles because quality control seems to be unpredictable.......Mel

I really wasn't meaning to bust on Eloxite too much. Their buckle mountings are cheaper priced than most and for the price are mostly OK. You just have to pick your design patterns carefully to avoid the ones that look like they have real curved surfaces ( some of the smaller ovals) and once you have your buckles you kind of have to custom size the stones as to how thick they are and the calibrated size. The shallow bezels on some of the patterns really won't handle a very thick cab. while others are sometimes too deep for thinner cabs. Overall though, for the price and with their volume discounts, they're really comparable with most others you find for sale. The buckles like the one I've pictured are really outstanding though and much higher quality......Mel

Yes that is really nice Mel. Thanks for the info too, as I plan to make my Dad a buckle someday, so I guess waiting to get the buckle then making the cab for it would be best.
