Last weekend Amber and I got invited on a bus trip to New York City by her aunt and uncle. We had a great time traveling around the city although I don't think Amber liked the subway too much. We traveled down to Canal Street for the ladies to do some shopping for faux Rollex's. Then went to little Italy to eat at my favorite restaurant there. We then took a hike down to the South Street Seaport to visit a brew pub. After that we rode back uptown for dinner and the Circe du Soiel Christmas show. I hadn't been to a Circe du Soiel show before and thought it was mostly acrobats but this show had a nice variety. I had a great time and managed to snap a few pics along the way. The Manhattan bridge linking Manhattan with Brooklyn. Us in front of the Brooklyn Bridge. The ships at South Street Seaport with modern New York in the background. Anyone who watched the Thanksgiving Macy's parade will think this looks familiar. The Empire State Building in all its glory.

I'm not a big fan of the city either but like to go up once in a while. Its like going to a completely different country. The amount of people out walking on the streets just amazes me.

Great pics Tony & Amber! Even though I was born in the State I've only been to the city once back in '75. It sure has changed since then. Thanks for the tour...

Yeah NYC is one of those places nice to visit but I am always glad to leave, LOL I have to go up with my Mom again after Christmas, I hate being herded through the streets, it is just too crowded! We were too early for the Christmas Tree at Rockafeller Center my Mom has this thing that we have to go every year, so we will go again! ughghhg

I'm disappointed....From the name of the thread I expected to see pictures of New York. Instead, a few pictures of a few square miles of New York. Nothing against you outsiders . You are brought up that way. We are the only state cursed with a (big) city named the same as our state. I think that if you were to draw a line East from the northern border of PA to the MA /CT line, most of the people above the line wished the people below the line would go away. We'd vote them out, but there's too many of them and they depend on us to support them.Whoops just noticed this was posted in photographs, not the life, universe, etc. Lee

...The amount of people out walking on the streets just amazes me. Are they more than in Vegas? The walk-sides there made me feel like in a crowded bus, sometimes. Beautiful photos, cool to see well known landmarks live. I like the bridge the most. Adrian

Yea I agree its a nice place to visit but I would never want to live there.
Adrain we didn't do any walking while we were in Vegas, too hot, so I can't compare it. Hard to believe it the sidewalks there would be busier than New York though. Now I wish I had taken a picture of the crowds for you.

Ah, I love the city! Those who come there without good city guides some times don't have the best of times. I can take you places you've never seen and never heard of, places that would blow your hair back, restaurants the like of which you've not seen in this country. NYC is such a happening place. But, it's for the young. I wouldn't want to live there. When my wife and I got engaged, we moved in together in New Jersey and she immediately got job offers in Manhattan. Took a job with a big fashion house, Escada, at 39th and Broadway in midtown. Go figure, southern Indiana farmer's daughter in midtown Manhattan.
Was really fun, long as we had no kids, but now it's just fun to visit, bit I'd not want to live there.
Looks like you guys had a blast there. Hope you had a great holiday!

Looks like you had a great time Tony & Amber. I've never neem to NYC, but would like to visit sometime. I do get to Chicago occationally. I'm with the popular opinion that it's awesome to visit. I love all the culture and variety not found in ho-hum N.E. Wisconsin, but it's not where I want to call "home".
