I was making some cabs the other day, and 1 broke on me. 
So I decided, instead of getting frustrated, and tossing it, the rock still had potential. USUALLY when I break a Laker, it has several other fractures, and I can't do anything with it, so I toss the pieces in the tumble bucket. This time however, the rock was pretty solid otherwise, so this is what I did....and I also had another slice from the same rock, so.....
My very first set from a Laker....wrapped in sterling & Gold fill wire to accentuate the colors in the stone
The earrings will have a Sterling chainmaille weave above them to dangle from sterling earwires.
The gold bands in this stone "move" just like Tiger Eye. I emailed Val over in Princeton, and he tells me this about the shimmering movement in those bands:
"I think this effect is from shadow banding in conjunction with the IRIS effect. What it means is that the banding has gotten so fine with ultra clear bands that it is breaking up light like water does in the air to make rainbows. This IRIS effect is well known and occasionally occurs in lake superior agates."
So there ya have it....
